Your events and photos never leave your device. The only thing the app sends anywhere is anonymous usage counts.
- No account or sign-in
- No ads
- No tracking across other apps or websites
- Anonymous usage analytics, with none of your content
- Optional tips through Apple; every feature is free
What stays on your device
The following is stored only on your device. The app never uploads it, and deleting the app deletes it.
- Your events: names, dates, repeats, reminders and styles.
- The photos you add to events. The app only gets the photos you pick in the photo picker, not your whole library.
- A few preferences, such as when the app last asked for a review or showed the tip jar.
If you back up your device with iCloud or a computer, the backup includes this data. Apple handles backups under its own privacy policy. Photo Countdown Widget doesn't use iCloud sync.
Analytics
To learn which features are used and to catch errors, Photo Countdown Widget sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck (TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany), a privacy-focused analytics service. A signal is an event name plus a few coarse values:
- Feature events
- App opened; event created, edited or deleted; style opened, applied, framed, reset or shuffled; help or What's New opened; widget guide shown; countdown card shared; widget or reminder opened; tip jar shown or dismissed; review prompt considered or requested.
- Coarse values
- How many widgets you've added and which sizes, which ready-made look you picked, whether an event has a photo, and which tip size you chose.
- Errors
- The kind of error when a photo can't be imported, the app can't open or save its data, or a tip purchase fails.
- Standard technical details
- App version, iOS version, device model, system language and region, display and accessibility settings such as dark mode or larger text, and session counts.
- An anonymous identifier
- Made from the identifier iOS gives our apps on your device. The analytics package hashes it before sending, and TelemetryDeck hashes it again on arrival, so neither we nor TelemetryDeck can turn it back into a device identifier or link it to you.
Your events and photos are never sent. Event names, dates and photos are never part of any signal.
The signals are not used to track you across other apps or websites, and no advertising profile is built, which is why the app doesn't show Apple's tracking prompt. TelemetryDeck explains how it handles data in its privacy policy.
Reminders
If you turn on a reminder, the app asks for permission to show notifications and schedules them on your device. No server or push service is involved.
Sharing
When you share a countdown card, the image is made on your device and you choose where it goes through the iOS share sheet.
Tips
The tip jar offers optional one-time purchases through Apple's App Store. Tips unlock nothing: every feature is free. Apple processes the payment under its own privacy policy, and we never see your name, payment details or address.
Third parties
Photo Countdown Widget has no advertising and no social sign-in. Apart from the TelemetryDeck analytics package, it includes no third-party code. It uses Apple's own frameworks, which run on your device.
Children
Photo Countdown Widget is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
